Studio Peipei has created an eco-friendly glaze from recycled stone dust, turning ceramic waste into a design opportunity. Instead of mining new raw materials, they reuse up to 40 tons of sawdust monthly from stone workshops, including dust from the famous Sagrada Familia sculptures. This unique glaze changes colour and texture depending on the stone type, without additives like quartz or oxides.
Water and energy use are also minimised. Certified for daily use, the glaze is packed in recycled paper and reused banners, showing Peipei’s full-circle sustainability. Their formula adapts naturally to different dust sources, making every batch special. With 1–2 tons produced monthly, the studio aims to expand while staying grounded in low-impact practices.

Studio Peipei is a research-focused design studio that centres circularity and material regeneration in its work. Founded on the belief that ‘waste’ is simply an unrecognised resource, the studio begins each project by analysing industrial by-products, leftovers, and natural side-streams instead of starting with a traditional product idea. This reversed approach allows the studio to value overlooked materials — such as sawdust, ash, shell waste, and textile offcuts — transforming them into innovative glazes, glass, fibres, and surfaces.
The aesthetic emphasises honesty: irregularities, colour variations, and visible traces of origin serve as design features rather than flaws. Functionality and elegance are preserved, while the story beneath highlights ecological sensitivity, material intelligence, and responsible craftsmanship. Studio Peipei encourages a rethinking of consumption — to challenge how items are manufactured, what they are made from, and who ultimately uses them within a sustainable lifecycle.
