Art & Materials Lab is an independent editorial platform dedicated to materials, craft, sustainability, and experimental applications across art and design. We work in a “slow publishing” rhythm—prioritising research, context, and material evidence over speed. Whenever possible, we provide clear credits, references, and necessary disclosures so our work can be reliably cited and shared.

What your donation supports

Your contribution helps us sustain long-term editorial work and the infrastructure behind it, including (but not limited to):

• Research & reporting: fact-checking, interviews, background research, translation, editing, and proofreading

• Image & rights costs: licensing, permissions, credits management, and rights tracking

• Website & archive maintenance: hosting, development, and improving our materials index and content structure

• Public learning & outreach: making materials knowledge more accessible—its processes, evidence, and real-world limitations

Editorial independence: donations do not influence coverage

We maintain a clear separation between editorial decisions and funding:

• Donations, sponsorships, partnerships, or any form of support do not determine what we publish, who we feature, or how a story is told.

• Our editorial team retains full independence over selection, review, and presentation.

• We do not offer—nor exchange—favourable coverage in return for financial support.

If we publish sponsored or partner-supported content in the future, we will clearly label and disclose it on the relevant page.

Transparency & acknowledgements

We deeply appreciate every contribution. If you wish, we can acknowledge your support in a supporter list or annual update (with the option to remain anonymous). We will also continue improving our editorial transparency—credits, sourcing, and corrections—so readers understand where information comes from and what may still be uncertain.
