Electronics pollution intensifies environmental colonialism. "The Sweeeet Side" uses human-bacteria synergy, turning copper waste into confectionery via bioleaching. Promoting e-waste recycling as a new currency, it bridges metal flows and future food chains. Liv Tsim presents a solution addressing e-waste through an innovative food approach, urging an eco-friendly shift.

In a world where electronics govern daily life and their chemical aftermath exacerbates environmental colonialism, the project "The Sweeeet Side" offers a groundbreaking collaboration between humans and the bacterium Acidithiobacillus Ferrooxidans. This inventive endeavour spearheaded by artist Liv Tsim merges the realms of Bioleaching and culinary arts, transforming pure copper waste into delightful confectioneries.

By promoting the idea of recycling e-waste as an innovative currency, Tsim envisions a symbiotic relationship between metal material flows and future food chains, paving the way for a sustainable ecosystem. Through this project, viewers are invited to witness a transformative process, savour its sweet outcomes, and recognize recycling as more than just a method of handling industrial detritus.

As Tsim embarks on this profound journey of redefining food sources and addressing the escalating concern of E-waste, she reminds society that envisioning a greener future might just start with a single, sweet step.

Based in Hong Kong and London, Tsim has pursued her BA in Fine Arts at the Academy of Visual Arts, Hong Kong Baptist University, and her MA in Biodesign at Central Saint Martins. With exhibitions spanning cities like London, Hong Kong, Berlin, and Sydney, her work delves deeply into exploring biotic material interactions, bioethics, and environmental justice.

She consistently probes the human role in addressing potential multi-species conflicts within ecosystems, especially given the Anthropocene's degradation of nature. Through kinetic installations, biomaterial sculptures, and immersive performances, Tsim encourages audience participation, often collaborating with diverse professionals to push artistic boundaries.
